Alastair wanted to be a Trucker. Whether or not it was the allure of the CB radios, the pumping of an air horn, or merely the power of Yorkie chocolate bar commercials, no one knows for sure. But drive a Truck is what he wanted to do. Sadly, a rare allergy to diesel and flannelette put paid to that dream, and so he substituted one kind of Mack for another.

After graduating with BA Honours in Visual Communications he worked at the prestigious Smith & Gilmour in London before travelling the world. Falling in love with Australia, he stayed and became the founding art director of the highly successful Ursa Communications.

In 2004, the lure of the Mac got the better of him and he opened Graphic Surgery, an independent design agency added Durex, Eli Lilly, Janssen-Cilag and St Vincent’s Hospital to his already considerable healthcare portfolio.

As an art director, Alastair, also has an extensive knowledge of studio management and creative procedure. He has a refreshing hands-on approach to graphic design, and his layout, typography and conceptual skills, combined with his attention to detail and business acumen, make him invaluable.

When not creating visually and strategically outstanding work, you’ll find Alastair can be found gazing longingly into the distance, listening to the sound of an air horn only he can hear.
